Maria graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene and Therapy at the University of Portsmouth.
Maria’s compassionate and empathetic nature and desire to help others drove her towards pursuing a career in dentistry. Her approach in dentistry is very much patient-centered. She thrives on working collaboratively in a team to provide high-quality care and enable patients to be in control of their own oral health. Likewise, she highly believes in preventive dentistry and works alongside patients to embrace this philosophy.
Maria is particularly interested in the topic of mental health. Upon graduating Maria achieved the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy/Oralieve prize for best research project, which investigated the impact of a Covid-19 restricted educational environment on dental care professional students stress levels. Maria also contributed to hosting a webinar on behalf of the British society of periodontology which focused on mental health in dentistry hosted ‘For Students, By Students’. Furthermore, Maria received the award of ‘Student of the Year 2022’ by the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy/Oralieve.
In her spare time Maria enjoys travelling, going on nature walks and regularly involves herself in charity projects whether that’s doing a fundraiser or volunteering at an event.
“I genuinely love treating my patients and educating them on their oral health! It gives me great pleasure when a previously dental phobic patient reaches the stage where they happily see me regularly to help manage their oral health! Tackling dental phobia and anxiety is something I’m passionate about!”
